DHL eCommerce helps FC Utrecht in social engagement

This Sunday, December 22, FC Utrecht and DHL will hold a beautiful Christmas promotion 'For supporters, by supporters!'. With winter approaching, the loyal supporters are called upon to give away warm clothing. In the call, two loyal supporters tell their personal story that fits nicely into the Christmas spirit of doing something from the heart for someone else.

The clothing collection is prior to the club's match against Feyenoord. From 12.30 pm, two hours before the game, DHL cars with delivery drivers are ready at the Fanplein and the Bunnikside at Stadion Galgenwaard to take on the clothes. This clothing benefits supporters and residents of the region who live below the poverty line. DHL eCommerce is a logistics partner of FC Utrecht and is happy to use this expertise to help the club with social involvement.

Recently, the football club and the parcel deliverer also joined forces. Then DHL delivered the homeless facility on the Maliebaan a large package with clothing. It involved 500 garments for women, men and children that the parcel deliverer received back from the winter collection of an online fashion company that ceased to exist. Martijn Kleij, VP Marketing & Retail of DHL eCommerce Benelux: "It is heartwarming to see how happy we have been able to make these fellow Utrechters with new clothes from a remnant of our customer Lesara. Through FC Utrecht, of which we are a logistics partner, the contact with the intermediate facility has been made that ensures that the clothing falls into the right hands.

THIS FITS IN PERFECTLY WITH OUR AIM TO DO SOMETHING EXTRA IN THE NEIGHBORHOODS WHERE WE DELIVER.

In the same period, Willem Janssen, captain of FC Utrecht, picked up a batch of depreciated computers and smartphones from DHL eCommerce's head office on reactorweg in lageweide business park. Flexit, a certified party, emptied these data carriers and donated the residual value to the IT4Kids organization. With this money, children living below the poverty line can play sports and games. "For example, no child is sidelined," says Willem Janssen.
