DHL acquires assets Instabox Netherlands and Red Je Pakketje

The receiver of the companies Instabox Netherlands B.V. and Red Je Pakketje B.V., which were declared bankrupt on November 9, has reached an agreement with DHL eCommerce to take over all parcel safes, roll containers, computers and sorting machines for an amount of over EUR 5.5 million.
Moreover, an agreement has been reached with DHL that it will make every effort to help as many former employees as possible to find suitable new jobs.

Trustee mr. drs. S. A. Voermans (Levenbach Advocaten): "I am very pleased that within two weeks after the bankruptcy was declared, we reached an agreement with DHL eCommerce on the sale of almost all assets of Instabox Nederland and Red Je Pakketje. Of all the bidders, DHL was both able to correctly value the assets as well as give the former employees of Instabox and Red Je Pakketje a good chance at a suitable position within DHL."

Instabox's nearly 1,000 parcel safes are partly scattered around the country, including at stores and sports clubs. Some of the lockers have not yet been installed. DHL will do that in the near future. The acquisition of Instabox's parcel lockers will increase the total network of manned and unmanned service points for picking up and dropping off parcels to more than 5,000.

A mobility center will be set up for the former employees of Instabox and Red Je Pakketje. Information days will also be organized for them at various locations around the country.

Wouter van Benten, CEO Benelux of DHL eCommerce: "Thanks to the acquisition of the parcel safes and other equipment from the Instabox and Red Je Pakketje estate, DHL can accelerate the nationwide rollout of parcel safes. This is good news for senders and recipients of parcels. In doing so, we are happy to engage with former employees of the bankrupt companies to see if they can continue their careers with DHL.  As an employer with 18,000 employees in the Netherlands, that should have a good chance of success."
